IDUBE GAME RESERVE /
SABI SAND, KRUGER PARK |
 |
 |
The exclusive Idube Game Lodge is situated
in the Sabi Sand Game Reserve, in the heart of South Africa's premier
wildlife conservation area, the Kruger National Park. This game rich
Reserve provides a haven where the best of African animals and birds are
free to live as nature intended. Built under towering jackalberry trees,
the Idube Game Lodge offers guests a peaceful retreat away from the
stress of city life.
Extensive green lawns under the trees offer tempting tastes to Nyala and
Warthog and the water feature in the garden at the Lodge attracts a
variety of birds and small animals. Relax in the sun or under a shady
canopy of trees around the boulder pool, cross the suspended walkway to
the secluded sunken hide next to the wall of Shadulu dam, or sit quietly
and watch the elephants bathing or the lions come down to quench their
thirst. Designed for indulgent comfort, the individually decorated
chalets at the Idube Game Lodge are equipped with air conditioning,
overhead fans and mosquito screens. Outside showers offer the perfect
solution to a hot day.
Leave the main door open at night, safe behind the screen door and
listen to Africa's unique night sounds, the distant roar of a lion and
the cackling of a hyena. Wake in the morning to the dawn chorus of
hundreds of different birds.
Daily game drives and bush walks, which are conducted at the Idube Game
Lodge, led by skilled rangers and Shangaan trackers promise close
encounters of the wild kind with an infinite array of animals, including
Africa’s Big 5, birds and reptiles. Botanical walks unveil the rich
textures of the African earth and the fascinating uses of the lowveld's
plant life.
Enjoy sumptuous bush breakfasts and midday feasts while staying at the
Idube Game Lodge and indulge in delicious South African fare in the bush
boma beneath the star lit African sky. The specialties of the house
include venison delights, complemented by a fine selection of South
African wines. Regular wine tastings offered at the Idube Game Lodge
complete a superb gastronomic experience.
After an exciting night drive, guests gather at the thatched bar to
exchange tales of all the great sightings. Then it's into the boma and
under the moonlit skies, time to enjoy a feast. The talented chefs
combine the best of European and African cuisine, and venison is
featured regularly. Rangers sit with guests at all meals, so you can
continue hearing the best of bush tales.
The dinner experience in the bush is something no visitor will forget.
From the time you arrive to see the firefly light of many lanterns, you
know you are in for something special. Mouth-watering smells drift into
the air as you stand around the fire. Glasses of red wine glow in the
firelight, with darkness and the bush beyond the magical circle of sand.
As you sit enjoying traditional South African cuisine, the quiet
conversations of the guests is broken by the occassional roar of a
nearby lion or the predatory hoot of a spotted eagle owl on the hunt.
